Kamala Harris

Kamala Devi Harris was born on October 20 1964. She is an American politician. She is both the first female vice-president and the highest-ranking female official of the United America. A member of Democratic Party, she has been the attorney general of California from 2011 until 2017, and as a United States senator representing California until 2021. Harris was born in Oakland. Harris received her law degree from Howard University. Harris started her career in the Alameda County District Attorney's Office prior to being enlisted into the San Francisco District Attorney's Office and later the City Attorney of San Francisco's office. In 2003, she was appointed the San Francisco district attorney. In 2010 Harris was appointed Attorney General of California and was re-elected in 2014. Harris was the junior United States Senator from California between 2017 and 2021. Harris defeated Loretta Santiago in the 2016 Senate election, becoming the 2nd African American woman to serve in the Congress, and the first South Asian American American to be elected to the United States Senate. As a senator, Harris advocated for federal de-scheduling of healthcare, and legalization of cannabis as a pathway to citizenship for undocumented immigrants as well as the DREAM Act which bans assault weapons. Her sharp questioning of Trump officials during Senate hearings earned her national attention, which included the second Supreme Court nominee, Brett Kavanaugh, who was charged with sexual assault.
